Enthusiastic folks who wish to learn how to identify South Florida's wild plants
September's meeting topic is the Sword fern family (Nephrolepidaceae). In Florida, this plant family consists of a single genus Nephrolepis, and includes Boston fern in addition to five other species. The topic of this workshop will be lead by Jennifer Possley of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Jenn is one of the ferniest botanists we have in South Florida.
Please bring in at least 3 plants, which needn't necessarily cover the topic. Plants brought in may consist of cuttings or potted material. Be sure and bring plants with fruits or flowers, or at least, whole specimens of small plants or branches large enough for identification.
The Native Plant Workshop is FREE, and meets at 7:00PM on the third tuesday of each and every month. We convene at the Miami Dade College Kendall Campus's Landscape Technology Nursery in the northwest corner of the campus. Please park outside of the gate.
