April 16th Native Plant Workshop

April's meeting topic is the Fagaceae (Beech Family).  This plant family also includes Oaks, and Florida is a hotspot for oak diversity containing 25 distinct species, and a dozen or so hybrids.  Dade County possesses six native oak species.

Please bring in at least 3 plants, which needn't necessarily cover the topic.

March 19th Native Plant Workshop

March's meeting topic is Primitive Plant Families (Annonaceae, Magnoliaceae, Lauraceae, Canellaceae, Aristolochiaceae, Piperaceae, Nymphaceae and others).  Theses are groups of plants whose evolution preceded the split between Monocotyledons (things like grasses, palms, orchids, and lilies) and True Dicotyledons (also known as "Eudicots" and include the vast majority of flowering plant families such as Roses, Asters, Legumes,…
