16 May 2023 Dade Native Plant Workshop FIELD TRIP

Now that the days are longer, we will have a few field trips in lieu of meeting at MDC.  This Month we will meet at 6:00PM: Christ the King Catholic Church, 16000 SW 112th Avenue, Miami, FL. Park in the parking lot south of the buildings. We will be walking over some mowed pine rockland in an effort to catalog the native plants there.  This mowed field is known to have a diverse assemblage of pine rockland wildflowers…See More

February's topic is the Cannabaceae (Cannabis family).  In South Florida we have only two native genera in this family, Celtis and Trema, which were formerly in the Celtidaceae and akin to the Urticaceae, Ulmaceae and Moraceae.
