Enthusiastic folks who wish to learn how to identify South Florida's wild plants
August's meeting topic is the Buckwheat family (Polygonaceae). This plant family contains plants such as pigeon plum, sea grape, and smartweeds.
Please bring in at least 3 plants, which needn't necessarily cover the topic.
The Native Plant Workshop is FREE, and meets at 7:00PM on the third tuesday of each and every month. We convene at the Miami Dade College Kendall Campus's Landscape Technology Nursery in the northwest corner of the campus. Please park outside of the gate. For a map and address of the campus click on above link or go to: http://www.mdc.edu/kendall/map.asp

Hi Gwen,
Welcome! Plant do not have to be native, although some cultivated material may be more difficult for us to identify, as our speciality is native and naturalized plants, however, we'll take a stab at it. It would be ideal if your plant piece had flowers and fruits, please don't just bring in a leaf, a branch with several leaves, or if dealing with small plants, and entire specimen.
Hi. I'll be attending your workshop for the first time tomorrow evening. Looking forward to it. Do the plants we bring need to be native?
Thanks,
Gwen Schoolar
