Emailed the photo to Jimi Sadle, Everglades National Park's Botanist who has an affinity for nonvascular plants.  He has determined it to be Fern Moss" Thuidium delicatulum, and for what it is worth, I agree (I am not a bryophyte expert).   Breen's Mosses of Florida lists it as common in Florida, although I don't recall seeing it before in my explorations.
