Dade Native Plant Workshop

Enthusiastic folks who wish to learn how to identify South Florida's wild plants

Does anyone grow our wild bamboo? I saw quite a bit of it down in Curry Hammock State Park along their nature trail and know that it grows up here also (the former Four Fillies Farm at Red Rd. & Old Cutler).

Yes, I grow it on occasion. The market is somewhat fickle about this one, but if you wish to purchase some, let me know.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Would it grow up in Hollywood? One of the ladies with on the hike was interested and lives in Broward. If you have it I would be happy to purchase one.
Hi Christina,

I have some in 1 gallon containers, they are $8.00 apiece. I will bring one home for you, and you can get from me at my house (I live in Kendall). If you'd rather, you can purchase from the nursery (and see more of my inventory). I will be selling plants to the public from 11:30AM to 2:30PM every first Saturday of each month at Silent Native Nursery in Redland.

And yes, they are native along the coast at least as far north as Martin County. They'll do fine in Hollywood.
